Very excited about going to Budapest as part of the Grundtvik exchange programme of museum volunteers. I am accompanying two volunteers of ‘extreme age’ to the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts.
One of these is Botany’s own volunteer, Ray Jones, who says
“I was delighted to be successful in being chosen to take part in the exchange scheme with the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. It is a privilege to be able to learn from people from a different European country how they see and learn from the way we do things in our museum environment. It was also a pleasure to accompany them and introduce them to the culture of my own city.” Ray Jones, The Manchester Museum

Fly agaric mushrooms spotted in Disley, Stockport this weekend. Above, one I looked up in the herbarium this morning, from Wimbledon Common in 1903. They are stunning when fresh – the red is so bright!
